This is an urgent call for support of our 5th District Chairman in his bid
for the NC Court of Appeals. He needs our help in securing the necessary 350 NC
registered voter contributions by May 1st. Together, we can serve up a defeat to
his liberal opponent!
Below is a brief bio on our 5th District Chairman and how you can help secure a
conservative success in November.
Dan will be available at our 5th District Convention set for April 19th at the
Wilkes County Courthouse (registration will begin at 9 a.m.).
Dan Barrett, our 5th District Chair, is a candidate for the North Carolina Court
of Appeals. This is a state-wide race. He has one opponent(Linda Stephens), and
the election will be in November of 2008.
Many of you may remember Dan as a conservative Republican candidate for governor
in 2004 who walked all the way across North Carolina. During his
582 mile walk, Barrett walked 15 miles a day and wore out five pairs of shoes.
Dan believes we need appellate judges who have a conservative judicial
philosophy. Dan understands that his role as judge will be to interpret and
apply the law fairly. He will not legislate from the bench. He will be tough on
crime.
Dan's opponent has received endorsements from special interest groups such as
the AFL-CIO and the Durham People's Alliance. She is supported by the Democratic
Party.
Dan is the conservative candidate in this race. He needs our help to get
elected.
Dan is well qualified for this Court of Appeals seat. He graduated from Wake
Forest University and its School of Law. He has practiced law in the
Winston-Salem area for 22 years. He is author of North Carolina Employment Law.
Barrett is also past chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the North
Carolina Bar Association.
Dan has tried cases in courtrooms across North Carolina.
Barrett also has extensive public service experience. He served as Chair
of the Davie County Board of Commissioners. Barrett has also worked on a number
of charitable boards, including as Chair of the Davie County Hospital Board of
Trustees.
Barrett has been active in the Republican Party. In addition to chairing the
Fifth Congressional District, he is a precinct chair and serves on a number of
State GOP committees.
Dan lives in Davie County with his wife, Kathleen, and his two children, Daniel
and Rebekah.
Dan needs your help to qualify for public financing by May 1, 2008. By that
date, his campaign must collect 350 separate contributions (from registered N.C.
voters) in check amounts of between $10 and $500.
Where possible, a husband and wife can each give, thereby helping Dan closer to
the 350 contributions. Adult children who are registered to vote in N.C.
can also contribute.
Please consider making out a check for $10 or more to help Dan. Checks can be
made out to "Barrett for Judge." His mailing address is "Barrett for Judge",
3540 Clemmons Road, Suite 104, Clemmons, NC 27012.
Warmest Regards,
Shannon Snuggs
